A recent joy was opening a bottle of my 2000 HMR Estate
Vineyard from Adelaida. The wine is drinking nicely now, so
if you are lucky enough to have a bottle, what are you
waiting for?. Showing a bit of age, the medium to dark ruby
core fades to an orange/red rim. The nose is full of aromas
of black cherries, cranberries and rhubarb along with dried
flowers and herbs - even a bit woody with hints of cedar.
Throw in some bacon fat and prunes from the bottle
conditioning and this wine will make your mouth water. With
its full body and rich consistency along with nicely
integrated tannins, this Pinot is developed with a solid
structure and says good-bye with a generous lingering finish. |
