One visit to the Clos La Chance winery will warm the heart.
The beautiful facility surrounded by vineyards is tucked
into the hills of St. Martin, California. Not to be outdone
by the architectural splendor, rolling hills, blue skies
along with sunny and dry weather offer an inviting summer
backdrop. Sitting on the veranda while gazing out across the vines, it's easy to get lost in thought only to pleasantly come back to reality when you remember why you're there in the first place, wine tasting, remember? The Clos La Chance 2001 El Dorado County Zinfandel is one of their attention-seeking offerings. The wine shows a light mahogany core that fades to an orange rim. One on the nose, aromas of strawberry and chocolate marry well with light wood smoke and hints of vanilla. The palate is graciously treated to ripe concentrated strawberry flavor. Mouth feel is simply fabulous as an unctuous rich consistency envelops the palate. Fine light tannins offer finesse to the structure. The rich bodied wine parts with a warmth that generously lingers about, leaving a smooth and sensuous sense of satisfaction. The indulgence hit a high note when this wine was paired with some raspberry infused dark chocolates. |
