Do you want to feel the earth shake under your feet when you
drink a fine wine? Michael and David Phillips can make that
happen with their 2003 Earthquake Petite Sirah. The largest
word you see on the back label is WOW! And I would say the
same. Pouring a glass of this wine reveals an opaque purple/ruby core that fades to a purple rim. The beautiful color is followed by a nose of dark berries, chocolate and spice along with a touch of earthiness and a hint of licorice. In the mouth, the wine is nothing short of hedonistic pleasure. The palate is treated to loads of extracted fruit flavors following the nose. Mouth pleasingly smooth, silky, even velvety tannins, are luxuriating to the robust structure this Petite Sirah delivers, exemplifying its rich body that sings with a harmonious balance. The generous finish sports concentrated intensity leaving the senses in ethereal complexity. Overall, this dark inky nectar is a fine wine you can savor like a port. It is youthful yet masculine and will provide plenty of drinking enjoyment ahead. This wine will most certainly make the earth shack under your feet! |
