It was one of those moments I could define as a "good life
get together" not just with friends, but with friends who
very much enjoy fine wine. In that spirit, I wanted to share
something wonderful from the cellar. Long story short, I
decided it was time to open the Cloudy Bay 2002 Sauvignon
Blanc. Those who know Cloudy Bay know why it is a special
bottle. However my relationship with this bottle is a bit
closer than most since I purchased it at the cellar door in
Blenheim, New Zealand! When you taste the Cloudy Bay 2002 Sauvignon Blanc, you will experience a moment of satiable delight not soon to be forgotten. The wine starts off showing a wonderful medium lemon color with hints of green as it fades to a clear rim. The nose is where this wine begins to throw its weight around as harmonious aromas swirl about the rim of the glass. Aromas of melon, grapefruit and passion fruit all with a tropical ripeness mix well with hints of herbs. In the mouth, the wine delivers both power and finesse. The mouth feel is rich while zesty acidity keeps the distinctly pure fruit flavors balanced. The long lingering finish is crisp as the wine parts with a final wave good-bye. Now that it's gone, I will need to replace this bottle. Obviously I will only be satisfied by buying it directly from the cellar door. |
