Syrah is ever increasing its stature in California and Mi
Sueno's 2002 Napa Valley Syrah is a fine example of why this
is true. The wine starts off showing an opaque purple core
that fades to a light purple rim. My first impression was,
"I love the color purple." And once you nose this wine,
you'll understand. Aromas of black currant, herbs, spice and
menthol waft from the glass with a resonate intensity. The
palate is treated to a rich robust body, powdery soft
tannins, lively acidity and a fleshy consistency that
delivers a fabulous mouth feel. The concentrated flavors
follow the nose and the wine's flowing balance leaves a
generous finish that lingers. Overall, this is an elegant
structured Syrah that's smooth and sensuous. |
