Yet another Avila wine I tasted at the 2004 Family Winemakers of California, Fourteenth Annual Tasting. The Cabernet like their Syrah does not disappoint. A value-oriented California wine the 02 Cabernet presents aromas of dark skinned fruit and spicy licorice along with creamy vanilla from the toasted oak aging. The ample body boasts rounded tannins and lightly drying astringency. A smooth harmonious finish lingers generously.
