Family winemaking tradition is rarely, if ever, surpassed by
the "bigger is better" thinking crowd. Regusci has been
making wines in Napa Valley since 1932. Their experience
shows when you drink one of their wines. Their 2002 Napa Valley Merlot gives Merlot a good name for those that don't understand its noble heritage! The wine has an opaque ruby core that fades to a purple narrow rim. Showing plenty of youth, the nose is intensely treated to aromas of sweet smoke, ripe plums, spice (a bit of clove) and chocolate. On the palate, the wine is full bodied with refreshing acidity and silky to fine tannins. The flavors are consistent with the aromas and the wine has a nice mellowed consistency that is almost fleshy. There is plenty of youth in this vintage and with its refined complexity it should provide plenty of enjoyable drinking time ahead. |
