One of my favorite things to discover in the world of wine
is passion. Because when you find passion you find good
wine. Winemaker Mark Christopulos is just that - passionate!
At Red Skye he's doing a wonderful job of sourcing quality
fruit and making artisan wines. Their 2001 Sunset Red is a blend of Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot and Cabernet Franc. The wine shows a deep ruby purple core grabbing your attention immediately. The nose is treated to a distinct and harmonious menagerie of aromas equally represented from each of the varietals. Allowing the wine a few minutes of breathing time, the wine reveals violets, spice, black cherry, plum and a hint of menthol. The wine on the palate is equally enticing as the flavors follow the nose. The wine has balance and structure that is nothing short of svelte. The wine has good fruit, acidity, fine tannins. Buy a few bottles and drink now or cellar for a few years for even more drinking pleasure. |
