Tablas Creek Vineyard is the wine maker of choice when
looking for California Rhone varietals. Their winery is
located in Paso Robles, CA and frankly during my visit one
could argue it is a in a slice of heaven. Tablas Creek wines are produced from estate fruit. This Cotes de Tablas is a blended red consisting of 45% Grenache, 22% Syrah, 21% Mourvedre and 12% Counoise. Counoise for those asking is a varietal that is known mainly in Chateauneuf-du-Pape. A good blending grape contributing lively acidity and peppery spice. The Cotes de Tablas is a wonderful wine. A beautiful purple ruby color yields to aromas of berry fruit with woven nuances of earth, spice and violets. The flavors follow through with a body that is ample consisting of integrated tannins, fresh acidity resulting in a generous finish. The varietals blended are harmonious and distinct in character. Seamless in structure this smooth blended red is ever so enjoyable. |
