Just mentioning the name Prager will likely spark fond memories for many of wonderful times past. The 2002 Royal Escort from Paladini Vineyard in Napa Valley is more than capable when participating in your next memory making event! This vintage port is made from 100% single vineyard Petite Sirah. One nicety is the fact that it is a semi-dry style port meaning that there is only 8% residual sugar compared to the 10%+ residual sugar found in many ports. The port shows a dark to opaque ruby core and offers aromas of blackcurrants, black cherries and spice. The full body offers richness as well as a supple consistency to the palate. Fortified to 19.5%, the alcohol balances well with the ripe fruit and the mellowed sweetness. The Royal Escort offers youthful varietal intensity across the palate and lingers about on the finish. A very enjoyable Port indeed!
