The last bottle of Ross Estate I had was their Grenache.
Since the others were so good, I had similar expectations
when I tasted their 2002 Cabernet Sauvignon (60%) and Shiraz
(40%) - Barossa Valley North Ridge bottling. The wine shows an opaque ruby/purple color. The nose is filled with Licorice, dark berries and spice along with a scattering of herbaceous, chocolate and pencil shavings. In the mouth, the wine quickly reveals its food friendly structure. Fresh acidity and dusty tannins provide a solid backbone. An ample body and ripe fruit flavors wrap the palette and part with a lingering finish. This is a sound offering from Ross Estate. |
