Wines with a cool name always tend to make me think they
need that cool name to help market their wine. However there
are those wines with cool names that have equally cool juice
inside the bottle. In comes The Stump Jump from down under producer d'Arenberg. This is a blended red consisting of Grenache, Mourvedre and Shiraz. I recently tasted the 2004 vintage and noted the following. The wine has a dark ruby core with aromas of plum and raspberry, a spicy mix of clove and cinnamon and some earthy peppery spice. The wine has ample body with soft tannins that come across as lightly astringent. It finishes clean with crisp acidity. Overall the wine has nice varietal intensity with agreeable complexity. Smooth, enjoyable and easy on the pocketbook - enjoy! |
