A recent discovery I found while out wine scouting was Wooden Valley Winery located in Suisan, CA. The winery is located within the Suisun Valley AVA. Their 2005 Riesling is straightforward and delicious. Showing a clear pale straw color the nose is filled with peach, apricot and hints of vanilla bean. In the mouth the wine has a full body, rich taste and some residual sugar providing a touch of sweetness. Don't fret though, the crisp acidity provides a sticky free finish. This is a well balanced Riesling that will surely find many friendly palates. Looking for a new red? Try the Wooden Valley 2001 Cabernet Sauvignon.
