France's Rhone Valley has been producing Syrah and Grenache
wines for centuries. Of those numerous vintages, the 2003
was a standout for many producers. Domaine La Milliére's 2003 Vieilles Vignes Cuvee Unique offers plenty of drinking quality for a Cotes du Rhone wine. At first glance, the wine shows a medium ruby core that hold consistent color to the rim. The nose is enticing giving off aromas of currants, and blackberries along with earth, spice and even some tasty bacon. In the mouth, the wine shows plenty of blackberry flavor supported by round lightly drying tannins. Lively acidity provides additional structure as the wine crosses the palate. With flowing balance, the wine finishes with a spicy, warm and sound parting. |
