Starry Night's 2002 Russian River Valley Syrah shows an
opaque ruby core that fades to a purple/ruby rim. The nose
is treated to aromas of blackberry, raspberry and vanilla.
Along with hints of clove, the wine shows a touch of gamey
spirit akin to a nice Rhone wine. The flavors follow through
to the palate. Its ample body has integrated tannins that
are lightly drying and mate well with the fresh acidity. The
wine's mellow consistency in the mouth, along with its
pungent intensity in the nose, parts with a generous finish.
Overall, this vintage is a good solid Syrah. |
