Bodegas Aguirre was my most exciting find this past year in
Livermore. A small producer with a focus on quality, yields
wines that are exceptional. Their 2002 Estate Petite Syrah Reserva is big, bold and, oh, so good. The wine shows an opaque purple/black core that fades to a thin rose rim. The nose is treated to great aromas of chocolate, cigar box, cardamom spice along with ripe dark fruit. In the mouth the wine is equally pleasing with flavors of dark cherry and raspberry. This wine is full-bodied with big tannins and refreshing acidity. Those attributes will allow the wine additional shelf time However, with such delicious pleasure in each glass, good luck trying to wait! All of the Bodegas Aguirre wines are small productions so don't wait to get yours. I purchased several bottles of their wines, so look for additional Bodegas Aguirre reviews in the near future. |
