The 2001 Silverlake Syrah is yet another enjoyable wine I have recently reviewed from Silverlake. The color grabs your attention quickly as you notice the opaque ruby, purple and black core, which fades to a rose/ruby rim. Your nose will twitch from the potent aromas of raspberry, blackberries, blueberries and hints of white pepper and floral notes. Plenty of those ripe aromas follow through in the mouth. Fine grained tannins provide a silky structure, and along with glycerin the wine has a fleshy mouth feel. This full body Syrah parts with a generous finish that lingers about and is an enjoyable, good quality wine.
