Babcock Vineyard's "troc" line of wine is meant to represent
their passion for the good things in life. Their 2000 Pinot
Noir from Santa Ynez Valley fruit starts off with a medium
ruby core fading to a mahogany/brick rim. On the nose, the
wine gives aromas of cranberry, dried flowers and musk with
hints of sour cherry and smoky wood. I also noticed a gamey
barnyard aroma that faded after the bottle had been opened
for about 30 minutes. In the mouth, the cranberry and sour
cherry flavors were prevalent. Refreshing acidity and soft
tannins round out this stringy lean to medium bodied wine.
With nice balance, this wine finished clean parting with a
developed yet subtle impression. |
