Small family wineries in California produce plenty of
outstanding wine albeit sometimes hard to find unless you
buy from the cellar door. River Run's 1998 Syrah was
produced from fruit sourced from the Clautiere Vineyard of
Paso Robles. The wine shows a nice ruby core fading to a
light rose rim. The nose is wonderfully rich with raspberry
and dark chocolate. With pleasure, the flavor follows
through with light soft tannins and low acidity offering a
mellow mouth feel. Parting with a robust finish that
lingers, this is a tasty Syrah that is still showing nice
fruit but should be enjoyed now. |
