Merlot done right, I always say, is a wine to take notice
of. The 2001 Reserve Merlot from Concannon is a limited
release produced from estate grown fruit. The wine has a
dark ruby core with a mahogany rim. On the nose, aromas of
blackberry, leather and cinnamon entice the sense for a sip.
The palate enjoys flavors that follow the nose along with
lively acidity and dusty drying tannins. The body is
stringy and lean and yields a flowing balance that's
generous on the finish and tends to linger around. Overall,
the wine is developed and can be enjoyed now. |
