The 2003 Lodi Petite Sirah does a masterful job of living up to Petite Sirah's big and bold reputation. The wine shows a dark/opaque purple core that fades to a purple/rose rim. The nose is treated to blackberry and blueberry fruit along with smoky spice and hints of tar. The flavors tend to follow the nose. The wine is full bodied with medium-grained tannins, fresh acidity and a lingering finish. This is a quality Petite Sirah that still has time to age due to its ample fruit and tannins.
