A refreshing approach to Chardonnay is Sierra Vista's 2004 -
unoaked - Chardonnay. It is amazing how different the
Chardonnay varietal can be when it does not see any wood or
even malolactic fermentation. No wood or butter, just tasty
fruit. The color is a pale lemon green. On the nose the wine
shows a pure intensity of green apple and lime that is a
youthful great fruit expression. On the palate the wine is
dry and has pronounced flavors of green apple. The body gets
generous support from the alcohol that balances well with
the wine. Along with lively acidity, this is one Chardonnay
that is light and lean and still manages to provide a
generous finish. This is a good quality unoaked Chardonnay
that is ready to drink. |
