Cantine Gini's 2002 Villa Fortunato DOCG Chianti is definitely a food-friendly wine. Beginning with a medium ruby/garnet core, the wine fades to an orange/mahogany rim. On the nose the aromas are strong and consist of raspberry, pepper and some dusty tobacco. The palate follows through with pronounced raspberry flavors. The wine has a stringy lean body that marries zesty acidity with woody, astringent tannins. It parts with a medium length finish that is dry and clean. Overall, this Chianti shows a firm consistency and uncomplicated complexity.
