Cabernet Franc is one of those varietals that often stand in
the shadows of Cabernet Sauvignon. It typically finds wine
duty from being blended. However, in this case, the Cabernet
Franc is allowed to stand alone and shine. Gold Hill has
done a fine job with their 2002 vintage. The wine shows an opaque ruby core that fades to a purple rim. On the nose aromas of raspberry and rhubarb pie mingles with peppery spice. The rich fruit flavors follow the nose within a medium body. Refreshing acidity and fine elegant light tannins construct a seamless wine with loads of fruity enjoyment. This wine is well balanced and the finish is generous in length. If you're looking for a Cabernet Franc, this is a sound offering ready for enjoyment. |
