First off, you just have to love the name of this wine
company - Hobo. A wonderful release is their non vintage
ruby port. Bearing the Dry Creek Valley AVA this ruby port
is a brandy fortified Zinfandel. It shows a medium ruby
color that fades to a light ruby/pink rim. The nose is
treated to black cherry, vanilla, spice and a hint of
nuttiness. Persistent and agreeable flavors tend to follow
the nose with a touch of chocolate. The heavy body has an
unctuous consistency with a fortified syrupy sweetness. Some
fresh acidity balances the wine and it parts with a warm
generous finish that lingers about until your next sip. |
