I must confess I am a lover of Rosenblum Zinfandel. From their cuvee all the way to their single vineyard offerings it is hard to find disappointment.

The 2002 Carla's Vineyard is without a doubt an enjoyable bottle of wine. The vineyards are old and located within the San Francisco Bay Area. Hard to believe there are vineyards in such prime real estate, but this one is and hopefully here to stay.

A first pour of this zinfandel you will notice the lovely dark ruby color. Try not to let that darkness captivate you too long. Hanging one's nose within the confines of a wine glass and with deep inhalation your senses are treated to all things zin. Rich black cherry laced with spice will entice the salivation on your palate. The flavors are concentrated and harmonious. Black cherry - of the candied, jammy kind - is topped with hints of chocolate and vanilla. The warm alcohol along with silky tannins develops a robust body that offers a long finish.

Enjoy!
