Boutique wines often have one thing I love - a delicious
nature to them. The one thing I don't love about many of
these wines is their often small production and short
supply! Well, as we all know, wine buying can be a
competitive sport at times so keep that in mind when buying
some David Girard wines. Their Coeur du Terroir Rouge is a new bottling with this 2004 release. It is a blend of Rhone varietals consisting of 47% Mourvedre, 24% Grenache, 24% Syrah and 5% Counoise - all estate fruit. Each varietal contributes niceties to the overall makeup of this wine. The wine has a medium ruby core. On the nose aromas of cherries and bramble berries, blend well with chocolate and hints of floral, cinnamon and tobacco. On the palate, the wine has beautiful ripe fruit flavors and soft tannins yielding a silky consistency. With ample body and fresh acidity this is one youthful release from David Girard you don't want to miss. Only 142 cases! |
