My first introduction to Trentadue was back in 2000. Having
cellared some of their first wines from that introduction, I
recently had the pleasure of tasting their 2000 Petite
Sirah. The wine shows a dark ruby core with shades of mahogany. Out toward the rim, the wine has more of an orange/red hue showing signs of some age. The nose is full of aromas and plenty of ponder. Dark berries, mix with tobacco leaf, licorice and earthiness. In the mouth the fresh acidity keeps the palate in check with full nose oriented flavors. An ample body along with drying tannins works the palate and parts with a persistent finish. Showing a developed age and mellowed consistency - yet still powerful - this Petite Sirah wins best of breed in my book. |
