It is time to pay a visit to David Girard so I can restock the wine rack (we've managed to polish off every bottle). We recently tasted their 2002 Syrah, and like all other wines that Mari Wells has produced for this winery, it was nothing short of delicious.

Attention getting from the first pour, the wine shows a dark ruby core with touches of purple lofting around the rim. A few minutes of breath time allowed the wine to fill my tasting glass with aromas of black plum, blackberry, clove, spice and hints of smoky bacon. Rich flavors follow through to the palate. The full body is well structured with crisp acidity and lightly drying tannins. With a generous finish, this is one aromatic and agreeable syrah.
