The 2003 Momtazi Vineyard Pinot Noir is a step in the
opposite direction compared to their 2002 Hyland Vineyard
Pinot Noir, I recently reviewed. A dark/opaque ruby core
fades to a light ruby rim. The nose has aromas of plum,
raspberry and dark chocolate mixed with a smoky cigar box,
which makes the palate demand a taste. Enjoyable flavors
that follow the nose are integrated into a rich body
possessing silky tannins and fine astringency that combined
with fresh acidity move through the palate with flowing
balance. A warm spicy finish tends to linger while leaving a
good overall impression. |
