Michael David's 2001 Syrah is a wonderful representation of how well Syrah does in Lodi. The wine shows a dark ruby core that fades to a light ruby rim. The nose is plentiful with persistent aromas of black cherry, raisin and pepper, with a light touch of cocoa adding a nice finishing touch. In the mouth the wine is equally delicious. Consistent flavors of black cherry and spice follow the nose. The wine has fine light tannins providing a solid structure with fresh acidity. A balanced wine with medium body, the wine parts with a clean finish. This is a good sound Syrah offering plenty of drinking enjoyment.
