Holly's Hill located in the Sierra Foothills is nothing short of a jewel. This winery is truly a family affair. Tom and Holly Cooper are the owners and their daughter Carrie is the winemaker.

Their 2003 Tranquille is a blended red consisting of 45% Mourvedre, 42% Grenache, and 13% Syrah. The wine shows a lovely color of ruby garnet with a deep intensity. Once you begin the joyous process of enticing your senses, you quickly realize you are in for a special moment with this wine.

The nose is treated to an array of aromas that include blackberry, cherry, spice, sweet cigar box and a touch of leather. By now you should notice your salivation awaken as the sensory excitement continues when you taste this wine. On the palate the flavors are richly consistent with the aromas. However it is the textural components of this wine that enhances its flavor appeal while adding finesse to its structure. With gentle acidity and soft smooth tannins the wine has a mellowed yet rich consistency. Warm alcohol adds nicely to the body and the finish is generous in length and tends to linger. Overall this wine is concentrated, balanced and harmoniously agreeable to the palate.

Look for other reviews of Holly's Hill wines as there are definitely other winners on the wine rack.
