Petite Sirah - aka the teeth stainer! - is one of my
favorite varietals. Not only does it have intense color, the
tannins have the backbone Clydesdale. August Brigg's 2004
Lake County Petite Sirah delivers all this varietal is
capable and is nothing short of true hedonistic joy. With a
opaque purple core, its nose is full of delight offering
blackberry and boysenberry along with spice, perfume, smoke,
toasty oak and vanilla with a few hints of cocoa. One splash
on the palate and you're immediately introduced to some
gripping tannins that don't mind muscling the palate. These
tannins are aggressive and a touch drying and not for the
faint of heart! In the mouth the wine is fleshy due in part
to low acidity and some glycerin. |
