One of my favorite Sierra Foothill wineries is Holly's Hill.
Their 2004 Patriarche Blanc, a blend of Roussanne (72%) and
Viognier (28%) - all estate fruit - does not disappoint.
The wine possesses a clear rich yellow gold core and fades to a clear rim. The nose is treated to aromas of citrus - particularly lemon - along with floral and hints of vanilla and honey. But it is in the mouth that the wine really satiates the palate. The full body has a lush mouth feel and coats the tongue from beginning to end. The ripe fruit flavor is abundant and tasty. Keeping the wine in line, its lively acidity provides the necessary backbone giving the wine structure. With a touch of age, the wine is currently drinking nicely. |
