I recently tasted the 2001 Annette's Reserve Zinfandel
produced from fruit sourced from the Rhodes Vineyard. I am
rarely disappointed in Rosenblum Zins and this was no
exception. The wine has a lovely dark ruby red color that
fades to an orange red rim. The nose is full of tantalizing
aromas of blackcurrants, cinnamon, clove, black pepper, wood
smoke and cedar. In the mouth, the wine is still showing
big tannins - possessing a drying astringency - providing it
with a solid structure and a full body with plenty of
flavors such as currants and cherries. While still showing
signs of youth, the wine also possess a developed
character. This is a noble Zin offering plenty of drinking
enjoyment. |
