The Ironstone Pressings is a blend of Grenache (70%), Shiraz
(25%) and Mourvèdre ( 5%). All fruit is sourced from
McLaren Vale. The 1999 vintage is worthy of high praise and
plenty of drinking enjoyment. The wine starts off with a medium garnet core that fades to an amber/orange rim, showing touches of age. The nose is full of wonderful aromas including, but not limited, to gooseberry, anise, tar, clove and chocolate. In the mouth the wine shines as well. Soft fine-grained tannins along with fresh acidity provide structure to the ample body. The wine's pleasing finish reminded me that this vintage still has bottle time left for future enjoyment. |
