The Black Chook is a blend of Shiraz (95%) and Viognier (5%) from South Australia. The wine shows a dark purple/ruby core that holds its color nearly to the rim. The nose has lovely aromas of floral/violets intermixed with blueberries. With a few minutes of breath time, the wine gives off faint aromas of aniseed, salami and spice. Fruity flavors follow the nose as the plate is covered with smooth silky tannins. Refreshing acidity keeps the wine in line with flowing balance. The rich body shows a supple consistency all the way to a persistent finish that leaves with a touch of warmth.

If you like your chook dripping with juicy fruit while lounging around its silken body, then you will enjoy this wine. A chook, by the way, is Australian for chicken!
